Chilton to start on race two pole

Chilton to start on race two pole

Max Chilton will start tomorrow's British Formula Three race at Monza from pole position, following the clarification of the results of today's controversial qualifying.

The original session for race one was rained off yesterday, meaning that today's half hour session decided the grid for both races, with each driver's best and second best times counting for a race each.

But today's session was thrown into confusion when several drivers had their best times taken away for cutting the chicanes.

It was eventually confirmed that Chilton will start second today, and head the field for tomorrow's race, alongside today's polesitter Matteo Chinosi.

Atte Mustonen and Michael Devaney will line up on the second row, ahead of Sebastian Hohenthal and Esteban Guerrieri.

Championship leader Sergio Perez will start both races from 14th place after having his best two laps taken away for jumping chicanes.

The organisers have yet to release lap times from the session.
