Ratel offers 2009 British F3 deal

Ratel offers 2009 British F3 deal

British Formula 3 promoter Stephane Ratel presented the teams with his offer for the series to remain on his SRO package next season at Monza today.

The British F3 teams' association is considering switching the championship from SRO's British F3/GT package to join the TOCA-run British Touring Car Championship bill for next season.

Ratel outlined the proposal for his 2009 package to the teams this morning and believes he has made them a strong offer, which includes headline status and continued rounds in Europe.

A statement from SRO read: "The commercial package will enable the series to remain a leading player in European motorsport. We believe the offer is in the best interests of the teams and the future of British F3."

The teams' association will now consider Ratel's offer alongside the proposal to switch to the BTCC bill, and are expected to reach a final decision by the Snetterton round of the series next month.

Raikkonen Robertson Racing boss Anthony 'Boyo' Hieatt said: "As far as I can see, there isn't much new on the table. But we need to get together and decide what's best for the series."

Fellow team boss Trevor Carlin added: "We need to all sit down together, discuss it, compare it with what else is on the table, and form a collective opinion."
